Project Manager
Typical Day in Role:
– Interacts closely with multiple stakeholders at various levels to define the project plan: the technology team, developers, the tech PM, with business sponsor, VP’s – bulk of role in first few months
– Creates a detailed project plan to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities – bulk of role in the first few months
– Attends/chairs steering committees and present findings at them; provide steerco and team with regular status updates
– Manages the project’s financials – in initial phases setting up forecasts and financials for the coming months
– Ensures risks are monitored, communicated and escalated where necessary
– Interacts with their own project team from 15-30 people and chair weekly meetings
– Communicates updates and plans to VPs and other stakeholders/teams regularly and proactively – need strong stakeholder management skills
– Involved in project kick-off, execution, and project team meetings after initial/planning phases
– Builds out strategic roadmap to address necessary changes to current state, and work through those enhancements
– Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
– Supporting one or more highly complex business processes
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 8-10+ years of experience as a Project Manager, managing complex projects with multiple workstreams with budgets over 2-3 million, preferably within banking
2) Demonstrated financial acumen (accruals, forecasting, modeling)
3) MS Project, MS Visio, and MS Office Suite including strong Excel skills
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Demonstrated understanding of technology to be able to communicate with technology group (such as understanding the file formats, databases) is highly preferable
2) 3-5 years of experience in AML
3) PMP an asset
Soft Skills Required:
– Candidate must be able to communicate with an executive audience and be able to present to senior leaders
– Strong ability to identify risks
– Excellent communications skills to coordinate with high-ranking individuals internally (Sr Manager and Director level generally)
– Self-starter that actively engages issues seeking resolution, ability to meet dynamic changes on prioritization
– Ability to manage assigned tasks and expectations without direct instruction or oversight
– Fast, adaptable learner who can hit the ground running
– Ability to work well under pressure while demonstrating strong professionalism
– Strong investigation, prioritization, and organization skills
– Must be able to collaborate closely with a team at times, while also being capable of holding themselves accountable to meet individual deadlines without hand holding

Post-secondary degree required
