Location Address: Toronto – WFH – Hybrid model once back in the office
Contract Duration: End is 10/31/2022 – possibility for extension
Number of Positions: 1
Schedule Hours: 9 -5, on call weekday/weekends (not called often)
Reason: Backfill position

Story Behind the Need

Business group: Canadian Digital Banking Engineering – Core

Project: Day to day investigation of production issues. Will be involved in some projects as well.

Candidate Value Proposition: The candidate will be exposed to the latest technologies. The bank has recently modernized their infrastructure, so a lot of projects are coming up. They will have the opportunity to work alongside other departments. 

Typical Day in Role:
• Daily operations and investigation of complex production issues
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues
• Project work related to deployment
• Process documentation (25% of their time)
• Presentations to stakeholders

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1. 6- 8+ years of experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer-facing platforms
2. Prior production support and Site Reliability Engineer experience
3. Strong working knowledge of multiple programming languages and tools (Java, Rest APIs, Spring Boot, Service Now, etc.)
4. Prior team lead experience
5. Good understanding of cloud services and platforms
6. Proven ability to translate ideas into technical and business realities, and to map technology to business problems.

Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Experience with on-call rotation support
• Experience with incident management and setting up monitoring alerts
• Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams
• Experience with Continuous Integration tools
• Experience with drafting documents and presentations for senior stakeholders

Soft Skills Required:
• Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence decision making with stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to take initiative and work proactively
• Presentation skills
• Critical thinking skills

Education: Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science or related field is preferred
