Technical Analyst – Power BI

Location Address: (Hybrid – once a month for workshops; open to fully remote candidates (Ontario only) – Scarborough 
Contract Duration: This is a 12 month contract starting 11/11/2024
Number of Positions: 1
Scheduled Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (There may be occasions where the candidate is required to work later shifts that extend beyond 5pm. However, the total duration of work will remain 8 hours)

Project: Microsoft released a new revision of PowerBI which MS Fabric. They will have to Enable Fabric to Scotiabank to number of user, to build operational processes to complete architectural review and to migrate the services.

Reason: Additional

Typical Day in Role:
• Responsible for the creation of test plan, test strategy, manual and automated testing.
• Collaborate with various teams to come up with optimal patching solution and work with global team to implement global framework to standardize tools, process and technology related to authentication and security.
• Provide consultation for Entra ID and various integrations with Entra ID.
• Reporting to Director, Global Platform Engineering.

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
1. 10+ years of working experience as a Technical Analyst.
2. 5+ years of technical working experience with Power BI, Azure Data Service, and Microsoft Fabric.
3. 4. 3-5+ years of technical working experience with troubleshooting Microsoft technologies Power BI service, Power BI gateway, MS Fabric, MS on premise and Azure SQL.
5. 2-3+ years of writing technical documentations and test plans.
6. Develop and implement test plans and test scripts; as well as document server changes.

Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Microsoft Power Platform.
• Technical certification in Microsoft 365.
3-5+ years of hands-on experience with creating and running PowerShell scripts.

Soft Skills:
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to collaborate and work closely with external vendors.
• Readily accept responsibility and demonstrate ability to work independently and in a team environment in order to help others to understand & update systems configuration documents and technical specification.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
• Excellent analytical, logical, and organizational skills.

Best vs. Average Candidate:
• The hiring manager emphasized that the ideal candidate should have the internal drive and curiosity to look for creative solutions, a quality that significantly contributes to the candidate selection process.
• Previous experience in completing migration from single solutions Microsoft PowerBI – MS fabric in a largescale deployment.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities are also important, as they will be working closely with other teams within the Bank.

Education:
• Post-secondary degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related IT field required.
