Cognos Developer
Typical Day in Role:
• Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications
• Act as an expert technical resource for Cognos 11 Analytics (Lists, Crosstabs, Visualizations).
• Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution
• Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment
• Working to implement changes and rebuilding processes based on existing and new codes
• Hybrid role – the candidate will be required to work in the office 2-3 times a week
Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
1. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Cognos 11 Analytics (Lists, Crosstabs, Visualizations). The candidate should be able to create new reports or enhance existing reports
2. Experience in Cognos Framework Manager for modification and maintaining of data models to meet business users’ self-serve request
3. Strong experience with SQL queries
4. Comprehensive knowledge of relational Oracle database concepts
5. Knowledge of IBM OpenPages application (GRC tool) and operating systems (Windows, AIX, Linux) technologies
Nice to Have Skills:
• Experience in OpenPages application development and OpenPages library – IBM Application – specially OpenPages
• Experience with GIT Commands
• Experience working on Agile methodology, familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence
Soft Skills:
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. The candidate should be able to collaborate with Business Analysts or Product Owners to understand reporting requirements.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics and new technologies
• You can demonstrate superior problem solving & decision-making skills to resolve complex work issues
• You are adept with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
• You can demonstrate good interpersonal skills to build relationships with both internal and external business partners and vendors
• Efficient and thorough note taking skills
• Well established organization skills in terms of meeting deadlines and coordinating different work streams of activities
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, business or equivalent work experience
