Job Title: Sr. Systems Administrator
Duration: 6 months
Location: Toronto
One of our top Public Clients in Toronto are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator (Level 2) to join their team.
The top 3 responsibilities for the role are:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of host systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures system uptime of all servers and networking infrastructure. Maintains records of system downtime and equipment inventory. Applies security patches, updates and firmware to all host systems.
- Develops new system and application implementation plans. Manages the implementation of new technology from initial planning to completion. Ensures documentation is detailed and accurate. Trains staff on how to use new systems, software and hardware.
- Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations. Keeps key stakeholders apprised of the situation.
The top 3 qualifications for the role are:
- Excellent knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory including; permissions, group policies, domain and forest functionality, and sites and services. Knowledge of SCCM and patching control.
- Excellent knowledge of virtualization including host resource management, virtual machine management and high availability. Knowledge of VMware vSphere 6.x and asset.
- Excellent knowledge of networking concepts including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, intrusion detection, access control and security.
Skills and Qualifications:

- Excellent planning, organization and documentation skills with complex system design activities. The ability to configure systems to be consistent with organizational policies/procedures; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility.
- Strong knowledge of storage networks including; LUN management and iSCSI.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms including; Office 365, Google GSuite, Exchange and SharePoint online.
- Ability to learn new systems and infrastructure; maintain and troubleshoot such systems.
- Knowledge of scripting in Powershell and / or VBS an asset
- Knowledge of telephony an asset
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems
- Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical information concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work under deadlines; manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Degree or college diploma in Computer Science and IT industry certifications with 10 years work experience in complex infrastructure systems design, administration and systems software and support. Industry certifications are an asset
