Purpose of the Role:
Scotiabank is transitioning from its current SAP ECC On-Premise Payroll solution to SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP). To support this strategic initiative, we are hiring three experienced Payroll Technology contractors:
– 2 roles to support the migration from ECC to ECP
– 1 role to support the ongoing maintenance of ECC during the project lifecycle
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide production support: analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll system issues.
• Independently resolve complex payroll issues using deep SAP Payroll expertise.
• Translate business needs into technical solutions, including requirements gathering, workflow reengineering, and functional design.
• Manage small projects or lead workstreams within larger initiatives.
• Participate in full-cycle implementation activities: technical specifications, test strategy and execution, data conversion and cutover planning, post-go-live support.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure test coverage aligns with business requirements.
• Escalate issues appropriately and keep stakeholders informed.
• Foster a high-performance, inclusive team environment.
Working Environment:
– Collaborate with the Canadian Payroll Technology Team, Global HR, Finance, and external vendors.
– Support payroll integrations and replication processes.
– Work in a hybrid environment with occasional non-standard hours.
Must Have Skills:
• 10+ years’ experience with SAP Payroll on premise (ECC) and/or ECP in recent years
• 10+ years experience in BA/project management capacity
• Experience with SAP Support Pack testing and year-end payroll processes
• Hands-on experience with end-to-end payroll troubleshooting (calculations, DME, integrations)
• Solid understanding of Canadian payroll tax and CRA compliance
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• In-depth knowledge of replication from Employee Central to SAP Payroll
Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Knowledge of the replication process from Employee Central to SAP Payroll
• Certification in HCM Payroll or Employee Central Payroll is an asset
• Strong knowledge of financial processes
• Knowledge of HRIS systems and practices is preferred
Soft Skills:
• Strong ability to read and interpret payroll schemas
• Excellent communication skills with ability to produce clear documentation
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Degrees or certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field required
• Certified in SAP HCM is a plus
