Job Title: User Experience Designer
Duration: 6 months
Location: Downtown Toronto
Key Accountabilities:
- Consume and understand business, functional and technical requirements
- Create and revise user flows, sitemaps and wireframes based on specifications, goals, needs and limitations
- Develop rapid interactional UX prototypes; verify design assumptions through concept and usability testing
- Participate in design review sessions with project teams
- Document detailed user experience specifications and provide to the development team; liaise to ensure final output matches UX specifications and visual design?
Must- Have Skills
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a user experience designer or similar role
- 2+ years of experience working on large websites within medium to large-sized teams
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in UX
- Thorough understanding of AODA/WCAG requirements, and previous experience designing to these standards
- User-focused and analytical
- Solid skills in creating information architecture, userflows, low and medium fidelity wireframes and prototypes for different screen breakpoints (responsive design)
- Well versed in fundamental visual and interactive design disciplines & principles and user behavioral psychology
- Excellent proficiency in Axure RP
- Experience in related UX/UI design software desirable (e.g. Sketch, InVision)
- Experience with Agile design/development methodology preferred
- Fastidious attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, and comfortable presenting and substantiating design decisions
- Exposure to user research techniques (e.g. usability tests, focus groups)
- Bachelor's degree in design or a related field (communication arts, computer science, human-computer interaction (HCI), etc.)
- UX certification from an industry-recognized design institution preferred (e.g. NN/g, HFI)
- Solid understanding of web and mobile technologies
- Previous experience in designing for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) a huge asset
Additional Notes:
This is not a UI/visual design or development position. A solid grounding in User Experience principles is preferred, along with creativity in the UX designs, but the ability to render final design assets is not an expectation of this role. Someone with experience in digital agencies is usually a good fit. Is working from home permitted? Potentially 1 day per week (must be onsite if meetings/presentations require it) Is OT required?
