Technical Business Analyst
Typical Day in Role
• Collaborate with the Project Owner, Project Sponsor and Project Manager to document the project vision and the project’s scope.
• Work with the Project Delivery Teams to identify, anticipate, assess, manage and resolve issues and risks related to requirements’ activities and deliverables.
• Drive independent discussions with stakeholders to design solutions which enhances customer experience
• Perform gap analysis and facilitate requirements gathering & discovery. This includes performing data profiling, data mapping, data lineage activities to support business requirements, and data governance requirements.
• Create test cases and perform end to end testing, including Functional Testing, Quality Assurance, Systems Integration Testing, to ensure requirements are met
• Manage, elicit, analyze and document detailed-level business and functional requirements utilizing relevant user stories and artifacts
• Effectively communicate and build relationships within the Team as well as all the stakeholders
• Work in a dynamic environment with aggressive timelines, multiple projects running simultaneously, and including providing support to month-end reporting.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
• 5+ years of experience as a business analysis
• Experience writing intermediate/advanced SQL queries is required
• Working knowledge of SAS (ability to run a job and interpret using SAS)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
• Collaboration tools: JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint
Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Experience with retail products and credit risk is an asset
• Power BI is an asset
• Working knowledge of Informatica, DataStage, Python is preferred
• Database Systems: Hive, DB2 an asset
• Data Mining/Modelling, Data Mapping is an asset
Soft Skills:
• Critical thinker, investigating, analyzing, and resolving complex problems
• Strong data analytic skillset for the purpose of testing/validation and gap analysis
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to manage stakeholder relations, and work with cross-departmental teams
• Ability to operate in a diverse team setting, great team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude
• Strong business analysis and writing skills including the ability to select the most appropriate method of communication and prepare a variety of business communications clearly and concisely
Degrees or certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
• Project management designation is an asset
