Story Behind the Need:
• The GWMS Portfolio Management team is looking for a Scrum Master to help deliver large scale modernization project, focused on Wealth Management's Investment Platform of the Future (IPF).
Candidate Value Proposition:
• The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience working within IPF, the largest initiative that the team has taken and work with critical portfolio management applications. There will also be a possibility for extension and conversion of full time employment.
Typical Day in Role:
• Responsible for driving team effectiveness by identifying and removing impediments, supporting the team, and encouraging practices in accordance with agile principles.
• Coach the development team and help lead and insure the is fully adopted and understood
• Guide the development team on how to integrate agile ceremonies and values into daily work.
• Engage with the team and technical SMEs to identify technical debt risks and develop approaches to remediate
• Implement and promote use of agile methodology within the team: Facilitate agile ceremonies including iteration planning, iteration review, retrospectives, and daily standups
• Apply techniques for effective workflow visualization and management (e.g. Kanban or Scrum Boards)
• Identify, manage, and help mitigate issues and risks, with particular emphasis on timely removal of impediments for the team and/or directing obstacles to appropriate owners for quick resolution
• Ensure team execution and delivery to committed sprint work- maintaining the momentum of the initiative and upholding a sustainable pace of delivery; track agile metrics to provide statistical proof of momentum and sustainability
• Ensure that proper lightweight documentation (captured in artifacts such as program vision statement, program backlog, program roadmap, release plan, sprint backlog, and increments) is prioritized and added to the team backlog of work
• Develop and nurture strong partnering relationships with Product Owner/Business Sponsor and stakeholders
• Support and educate the Product Owner on agile principles and practices to preserve the team from external pressures which may inhibit its
Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
1) 8+ years of experience as a Scrum Master and handling large scale projects
2) Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Scrum, Agile theory, methodology, techniques, rules, and practices, estimating, planning, forecasting, reporting, conflict resolution and facilitation
3) Knowledge of current and upcoming Agile industry trends and best practices and internal or external business discussions to improve team efficiency
4) Previous banking experience at a large corporation

Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Experience with wealth management team is an asset
• ScrumMaster Certification is a strong asset
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor Degree in computer engineering, business, Information sciences or other related field Experience
Candidate Review & Selection
• 1st round interview – hiring manager + agile coach + tech lead (1 hour)
• 2nd round interview – hiring manager + director (30 minutes)
