Story Behind the Need
Business group: Canadian Digital Banking – Engineering
Project: 2 projects – onboarding platform modernization: bringing onboarding digital applications to the branch and contact center for lending – trying to simplify and scale digital applications to assisted channel use (branch & contact center); in early phases, working in Agile framework so requirements will keep being defined, but most of them are set – both in execution stages. This resource would transition and take work off fixed capacity to hit deadlines on both projects.
Candidate Value Proposition:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a multi-channel complex program, gain exposure to full end-to-end from idea to full implementation and monitoring, full banking exposure (technology, operations, change management).
Typical Day in Role:
• Define and lead the execution of the platform migration backlog, partaking in scrum ceremonies and being a key leader amongst the broader scrum team
• Maintain a prioritized backlog, write detailed user stories and participate in sprint planning & review activities. Engage day-to-day with the scrum teams, clarifying questions and helping with decision making
• Support pre-production testing activities, define and execute on a pilot plan, and support change management activities pre and post rollout
• Work closely with the business, compliance & other control functions, while always negotiating and pushing for the benefit of good customer experience & high business value
• Works with analytics to monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales funnel performance, penetration, and engagement
• Establishes a close relationship with the business stakeholders to ensure their requirements are translated into the right products and journeys. Manage expectations with effective communication
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 10+ years’ experience as Product Owner
2) 5+ years’ experience with Scrum Agile framework, with demonstrated working experience maintaining a prioritized backlog, writing detailed user stories, participating in sprint planning, and reviewing activities
3) 6+ years of demonstrated experience executing on complex product rollouts in both customer facing and employee facing technology
4) 5+ years’ combined demonstrated experience managing a technology product and a digital journey end-to-end, from inception to delivery
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) PO experience from financial industry
2) Experience with / working knowledge of the lending business
3) Experience in customer and product onboarding

• Is a master of identifying and solving ambiguous problems to drive customer and business value
• Has excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
• Has a curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty
• Verbal and written communication skills are exceptional, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels in the organizations
Education:
Engineering, Computer Science or Business degrees considered an asset
CSPO certification an asset
Best VS. Average Candidate:
Ideal candidate has all the requirements/nice to haves, and is independent but knows how to bring their management team up to speed and knows when to engage them for escalations, support etc. – someone who can run with the work, engage the HM/Head of Product as needed but comes with a plan and is proactive in solving problems; someone who is a well-rounded individual to work with and has a balance of strong soft skills but is also assertive when needed, as there are many stakeholders to work with – this will be key to their success on the team.
