Pricing Analyst
Story Behind the Need
The Pricing Analyst is responsible for the effective execution of the different operational activities within the group. He/she is also accountable for supporting the completion of pricing initiatives and operational activates for residential mortgages and secured lines. This role requires strong communication skills, good judgement, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate needs strong decision-making skills and reasoned, independent thinking.
Typical Day in Role:
• Exception Management and Competitive Review:
o Manage exception requests for mortgages and secured lines of credit.
o Use thought leadership in evaluating exception requests that merit more flexibility while balancing profitability.
o Assist in tracking of rates authorized outside policy.
o Respond to internal and external stakeholder requests for reports and other pricing related maters.
• Pricing Initiatives and Financial Analysis:
o Assist in the execution of different rate changes.
o Maintain good understanding of the competitive landscape and inform the team of any changes in the competitors’ rates or programs.
o Support the execution of the strategy to enhance profitability and utilization.
o Provide active support to the rest of the team in all other recurring and operational activities.
• Reporting and System Maintenance:
o Performance of daily activities including rate monitoring spread calculation and rate sheet distribution.
o Regular reporting on pricing activity, authorizations, exception levels and competitive review.
o Provide relevant reporting and analysis on the exception process including exception results across all channels for both pricing and policy requests.
o Provide support to the maintenance of compensation and reporting platforms, ensuring they are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
o Work collaboratively with team members or other RESL teams to advance the group’s analytical and reporting initiatives.
Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
• 2 to 3 years analytical experience required
– 1+ year of experience in Financial Services – Banking experience is preferred
Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Knowledge of MS Office applications, especially excel is an asset
• Knowledge of branch banking operations is an asset
– Existing mortgage pricing/knowledge
Soft Skills:
• Willingness to work after hours at times
• Strong prioritizing, presentation, and planning skills
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment is highly favored
• Proactive, eager to learn and able to work independently
Education/Experience:
• BA/ BSc
• Finance and / or Banking accreditation is an asset
