Outside Plant Engineering Planner
Key Responsibilities/Job Functions:
•Management of the Fibre / coax Network.
•Provide fibre / coax network design alternatives and assist in optimizing fibre network capital and operating costs.
•Perform analysis of and recommendations for different fibre / coax network technical options.
•Prepare fibre cost estimates (FERs) and produce CAs, BOM and POs for fibre national or inter regional projects. Coordinate spending and timelines. Ensure projected overruns are escalated in timely fashion.
•Joint Fibre planning and provides liaison to fiber users with Wireless and other 3rd parties for fiber allocation and IRUs.
•Provide input to engineering plans for fibre network expansions/upgrades in a timely manner to allow implementation to be within specification, on time and within budget.
•Assist in ensuring engineering plans meet fibre network needs in terms of reliability and capacity, and ensure the Fibre Network is built for ease of use from an operations perspective. •Assist in providing documents that assist other departments eg RFQ for implementation
•Provide engineering support for the Fibre / coax Network and the implementation of new engineering plans.
•Provide engineering support for the selection of routes to ensure optimum cost effectiveness and performance, and in the preparation of construction and permit drawings and bill of materials for new plant and forced projects.
•Provide engineering support for the operation, maintenance and restoration of the fibre network.
•Accurately document details of Fibre / coax Network topology.
•Provide input for the preparation for technical presentations and proposals on the Fibre Network.
•May provide input or advice related to fibre / coax network technical issues.
•3-5+ years of Autocad experience
•1-3+ years of SpatialNET knowledge
•Detail knowledge of Municipal and Hydro Civil designs
•3-5+ years of Network engineering and Planning experience.
•Experience with a major Telecom Service Provider or Cable Operator and direct involvement in building large fibre networks.
•Have valid Drivers License, and own car
NICE TO HAVE:
•Education experience should include undergraduate university degree or College Diploma in electrical engineering, Telecoms Engineering or equivalent PE, CET , SCTE, BCE, BCT, or BTS certification/designation is definitely and asset.
