Lead DevOps Engineer

Location: WFH – Toronto
Contract Duration: 7 Months

Your Business Line: Undertaking a major initiative to modernize the client/account onboarding and servicing platform. The group consists of 5 agile teams working closely together to deliver, support, and maintain the direct client onboarding system.

Story Behind the Need:
Project Summary : The team is currently looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to provide support and technical expertise in collaboration with agile development teams, internal and external partners to facilitate and enable software integration and deployment in end to end environments. The individual should be motivated to implement innovative design as well as support existing production capabilities. The successful applicant can expect to be involved with configuration management, builds, build issues, deployment, triage, troubleshooting activities, implementation and post-implementation support. Client is looking for an energetic and ambitious individual looking to make a difference for its clients.

•Reporting to the Sr. Manager, the DevOps Engineer will work closely with talented peers, leads from cross functional teams, key business stakeholders, technical teams, regulatory and compliance groups, security groups and senior leadership.

The role is based out of Toronto and can involve occasional evening/weekend support activities. The Lead DevOps Engineer should be a self starter and able to work independently. Individuals that demonstrate strong communication skills, a client focused mindset, and take accountability and ownership of tasks will be a great fit for the team and the position.

Responsibilities:
• Work with development and QA teams to understand their needs and priorities
• Contribute to automation of our code delivery pipeline with the goal of minimizing build time and human interaction during deployments
• Implement and improve monitoring and alerting
• Help performing root cause analysis of production issues
• Investigate and resolve technical issues
• Design and implement procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
• Contribute to the conversation concerning sprints and deliverables
• Think critically breaking down complex problems into elegant technical solutions
• Manage application configurations in relevant environments
• Environments setup activities and coordination with external teams
• Collaborate with application development teams for configuration management, builds, build issues, deployment, triage and troubleshooting activities
• Work with Infrastructure and other bank internal teams to ensure environments are up and running and outages are communicated to impacted stakeholders
• Continuously improve the development process and implement best practices

Qualifications/Must Have skills:
1. 10+ years of IT experience out of which 5+ years should be DevOps.
2. At least 3-4 years of prior work experience where you have demonstrated the ability to automate tasks in at least one programming language like Java, C#, Python, GO, Bash, etc. the contractor must have a solid understanding of programming languages concepts without necessary knowing the syntax of the language
3. Able to orchestrate automation tools, CI/CD servers and systems
4. Be able to understand logs without knowing too much details about components and source code
5. Cloud Technology Requirements: Familiar with modern SDLC tool stack (SCM, CI/CD Azure DevOps pipelines, Artifact repository, Public Cloud Orchestration/Deployment tools). Public Cloud: Azure, SCM: Bitbucket, Git, CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps. Understanding of basic Architectures on cloud (Load balancing, SSL certification, VPCs). Cloud provisioning: Azure Cloud Resource Manager
6. Must be familiar and have a common understanding of security concepts and tools like Fortify, WebInspect, SonarQube, BlackDuck
7. VM OS: Windows Server 2012 and higher
8. Source Code Frameworks: .NET & DLL management

Personal/Behavior Competencies:
• Must be familiar with Agile environments and Agile methodologies for time and resource management (Kanban, Scrum, etc.)
• Must be able to work effectively and deliver value under minimal supervision

Nice to have:
1. Splunk querying familiarity is a plus
2. Last but not least, specific experience with OpenText & Captiva would be great

Education
Qualifications: Associate's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
