Story Behind the Need:
Project: Seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to assist with the IFRS17 Program – This is a financial reporting regulatory initiative that requires a Senior Project Manager to work with business workstreams in conjunction with technology workstreams.

Typical Day in Role:
– Support the Portfolio Director and/or Program Manager to ensure the business needs and outcomes of the project are defined, satisfied and costs identified while working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, process specialists, product managers, and others to onboard, plan, and execute engagements with the bank’s technology teams.
– Develop, track and manage project budget, project plans, timelines and scope
– Establish scope of the project; monitor and control scope to ensuring focus on delivery.
– Manage project resources including procuring project staff, developing, motivating, coaching and advising
– Identify resource requirements, set expectations, and manage stakeholders to enable efficient and effective achievement to project outcomes
– Partner closely with other members of functional teams to define business requirements
– Lead teams of developers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs
– Define test plans and ensure that products are defect free before User Acceptance Testing Facilitate the User Acceptance Testing process, developing rollout plans and procedures
– Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized
– Make presentations to steering committees or project sponsors
– Manage the project budget by contributing to monthly forecasts, quarterly accruals, and year end carry forwards
– Leading discussions to make sure the appropriate items are addressed
– Consolidating various inputs from workstreams
Must Have Skills/Requirements:
1) 10+ years of hands on experience as an IT PM preferably with some experience within the regulatory space
2) Experience managing projects size of 5MM+ (will not be managing the finances directly)
3) 5+ years of experience delivering projects in an agile environment
4) 5+ years of hands on experience in an Application Project PM capacity (from a business user perspective)
5) PMP Certification
Soft Skills:
– Strong Communication Skills – Stakeholder Management (will need to be vocal and able to work with strong personalities)
– This candidate must have flawless communication both written and verbal as they will be working with executives and stakeholders on a daily basis
– Documentation skills – Risk/issue tracking
Nice to Have:
– Bilingual Spanish / English is an asset but not required
– Some knowledge of financial reporting and finance would be a huge asset
– Previous Big 5 bank experience
– AML or ABAC Experience
– Scrum Certified
– CA PPM
– FI/Banking
– Experience with risk or compliance projects
Education or Certifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
