Story Behind the Need
Business group: Operating Practices – Business group: Operating Practices – These roles support the training workstream for a large Canadian Banking regulatory bank act project called Bill C86 Consumer Protection. There are 14 different workstreams on this project that are making changes to process and systems to be in government compliance by April 1. 2022. This project impacts around 20,000 employees. The project is owned by the Canada Banking Operating Practices regulatory and policy group.

Project: Consumer Protection Workstream, Regulatory Project part of Bill C86.
This role leads the implementation activities of the consumer protection workstream training solutions, and acts as a central hub to ensure alignment between all respective groups that support training design, development and LMS implementation. This role ensures all activities follow governing regulations and the Bank’s policies and procedures.

Reason for request: Training support – this position will be assisting in the creation and update of training material that is impacted by Bill C86.

The work will be very team oriented with all roles working together to build the appropriate training. The work will demand an agility factor as there will be opportunities (planned and unplanned) to pivot from the expected course of action, and demand creative thinking to find alternate ways to meet the training expectation in a fast and effective way.

Typical Day in Role:
– Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
– Participation support for assigned training activities through the ADDIE training methodology – design, development, testing and implementation phases of the English and French courses in accordance with established banking guidelines standards.
– Reports to a project senior training advisor
– Makes recommendations to mitigate risks and initiates appropriate discussions to close them.
– Works as directed to ensure project alignment with the Consumer Protection Change Management and/or respective business and change teams regarding communication/ distribution of job aids, manuals and guides
– As needed collaborates with the Consumer Protection Learning Management Technologist to ensure successful execution of training programs in accordance with established guidelines and standards
– As directed collaborates with the Vendor design and development teams and their project managers to ensure a smooth working relationship
– Works in alignment with established Scotiabank guidelines and standards
– Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 5-7 years of experience developing and designing training programs
2) Must have instructional design capabilities.
3) Strong knowledge of training ADDIE methodology, theories and training practices
4) Strong understanding of the importance of organizational structure and internal dynamics
5) 5-7 years – Working on projects and the ability to support deadlines
6) Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Certification in adult education
2) French language skills are an asset
3) eLearning creation or eLearning authoring tool exposure

Soft Skills Required:
1) Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
2) Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple priorities
3) Ability to work virtually

Degrees:
College certification/Post Secondary Degree
Post-secondary Degree in Human Resources or Business or related field is an asset

The candidate will be updating material, they need to have experience with instructional design and writing material. They are not looking for a manager, instructor or facilitator.
