Position Title: Freelance Videographer / Editor
Duration: On call
Work Location: Toronto
•Work in partnership with the Creative Director and creative teams to elevate and enhance concepts through recommendations on storytelling, storyboarding, shooting techniques and editing.
•Shoot best in class interviews, performances, audio, b-roll, live events, etc.
•Understand the methods of shooting and make technical decisions regarding shoots such as choice of cameras, lenses, lighting, shot composition, etc.
•Be skilled at lighting a variety of environments (e.g. outdoor, conference room, office)
•Operate camera and audio simultaneously including microphone set-up and wireless mics.
•When shooting talent, set-up teleprompter if needed and create an environment that places the participating talent at ease.
•Review all footage to ensure content was captured correctly.
•Stay abreast of the latest technology and equipment and make recommendations on new equipment to purchase to maintain high content creation standards.
Editing and Post Production:
•Work with the Producer/Director, Creative Director and Creative teams to edit original or sourced (supplied or stock) footage according to scripts, storyboards or creative concepts/briefs.
•Expertly combine visuals, audio, titles and graphics to create rough and final cuts of compelling video storytelling.
•Quickly edit for a broad range of formats, including but not limited to; 1:1 social media stories, :06s/:15s online video, longform (2-3min) storytelling and internal videos.
•Apply appropriate Colour Correction and Colour Grading on original and sourced footage.
•When needed, partner with Multimedia Producers when After Effects is required (some knowledge of AE is preferred).
•Work with Account Management and the Creative teams to address any changes throughout the approval process.
•When needed attend presentation and feedback meetings to offer production input and ensure that the creative team has the support needed to execute their productions with excellence.
•Partner with the Account team to maintain an awareness of status and project deliverables to achieve effective and efficient outcomes.
•2-4+ yrs exp. as a Videographer / Editor with video production exp.
•Understand Cinematography (lighting & camera operation techniques), Sound capture & Editing principles; able to tell a cohesive visual story.
•Has portfolio of launched work (Motion Content Capture, Video Formatting, Editing, & Enhancing Techniques)
•Proficient with: Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro & Audition)
•Advanced understanding of how to leverage After Effects & other Creative Cloud tools to enhance productions.
•Knowledge of accessibility issues pertaining to video including Closed Captions & Accessibility Transcribing.
•Understanding of music usage, talent rights & footage clearance.
•Adept at supporting & collaborating with creative teams to ensure strategic integrity & production excellence from start of project to finish.
•Bachelor's degree in Broadcast & Film Production or Art/Design or equivalent
NICE TO HAVE:
•Knowledge of operating the following equipment (Sony Mirrorless cameras, Sennheiser mics, Zoom audio recording devices, iPad Teleprompter software)
•Understand web production & the capabilities within digital channels
•Able to travel occasionally to assist with select production projects
•Exp. capturing Stills & Motion content at live events & interviewing Senior Executives
•External Media or Agency exp.
•In-House Agency exp.
•Well organized and willing to adapt to new project management workflows.
•Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time to meet deadlines.
