First Line Testing Analyst

First Line Testing Analyst
Location Address: Toronto (Currently WFH but potentially on site for 90 days)
Contract Duration: ASAP until Oct 31
Number of Positions: 1
Scheduled Hours: 9am-5pm
Extension/FTE: Possibility, depending on project availability and performance

Story Behind the Need:
• GBM Internal Control team is looking for a First Line Testing Analyst contractor with compliance/audit/regulatory testing experience in Capital Markets.
• Project: Global testing program – Test the operational effectiveness of key controls. Perform testing functions, participate in documenting findings/reports and uplift work streams.

Typical Day in Role:
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Perform qualitative and risk-based First Line Testing by evaluating key control points of a sample selection and developing testing results in accordance with GBM Quality Assurance Procedures. The reviews will require good knowledge of Regulatory Onboarding Policies and Procedures.
• Testing of regulatory onboarding procedures that impact GBM business trading activity (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, Canadian Trade Reporting) and the review of procedures and ad-hoc reviews
• Perform analysis to identify and address patterns, themes, or trends that indicate potential weaknesses or gaps in the execution of GBM-wide Regulatory Onboarding controls and procedures
• Produce Regulatory Onboarding business line metrics and key risk and performance indicators
• Provide effective and constructive feedback to the execution teams within GBM on identified deficiencies
• Support in developing appropriate corrective action and preventive actions plans. These will require sound knowledge of GBM-wide Regulatory Onboarding controls and procedures
• Develop periodical Regulatory Onboarding QA reporting of findings and progress against remediation objectives to management and other key stakeholders
• Support continuous development on Regulatory Onboarding QA reporting to ensure timely delivery of Regulatory Onboarding QA reporting to Senior Management and 2nd Line stakeholders
• Support in the development of training, where appropriate, based on Regulatory Onboarding QA results and progress of corrective actions
• Support in delivering future Regulatory Onboarding QA program phases due to changes in the regulatory landscape, system/process enhancements or update
• Developing and maintaining key relationships with GBM Execution Teams and second line of Defense (i.e. global derivatives compliance teams, GBM Internal Controls stakeholders)
• Interact with global procedure owner(s) on procedure details, provision of advice on any regulatory changes that may impact GBM processes.
• Supports GBM business units globally including Canada, U.S. Europe, Asia Pacific, Brazil, and Latin America

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
1) Minimum of 4 years in financial services, consulting, operational risk, internal controls and/or compliance
2) 4+ years of prior experience in examinations/auditing roles, Quality Assurance, and an understanding of testing methodology and risk and controls analysis
3) 4+ years of experience in testing regulatory control processes (compliance/audit/trade surveillance) and writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports
4) Proficient Excel and PowerPoint skills
5) Knowledge of regulations including but not limited to CFTC, NFA, OSFI, FINRA, FINTRAC, IIROC, FCA, MCD/MAR, EMIR, OSC, HKMA.

Preferred Skills:
• Data and financial analysis experience is preferred
• Knowledge in capital markets and wholesale banking products and operating model is strongly preferred

Soft Skills:
• Fast learner, strong analytical skills and critical thinking capabilities to frame and structure complex issues effectively and develop insights and recommendation.
• Change agent with high energy, demonstrated strong ability to work under pressure, deal with ambiguities and uncertainties, and drive for result
• Strong communications, organizational, project management, and planning skills

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or equivalent work experience
