Equipment Specialist
The Equipment Specialist will work with the wireless access equipment engineering team to produce, according to internal guidelines, all engineering documents required for network moves, additions and changes. Preparation of work order detailing transmission (FOTS, microwave, TDM & IP) and IP configuration, DC power evaluation, RBS and BTS interface assignments and detailing the equipment of GSM network projects, UMTS / HSDPA, LTE, IP, pagers, interconnect as well as wireless network services and features.
•Interact on a regular basis with various engineering departments, network operations, project managers, suppliers and other internal customers to resolve engineering issues and issues associated with a project.
•Ensure the proper configuration and integration of new transmission equipment into the network and verify that technical designs adhere to established principles and meet our standards.
•Order transmission, power, IP and auxiliary equipment necessary for the completion of projects.
•Assist technicians and project managers by answering technical questions related to a project and providing technical support to Operations and / or contractors during the execution of work orders and transfers.
•Maintain up-to-date network configuration documentation, approve and document changes to ensure access network documentation is up to date and reflects the image of the network.
MUST HAVE:
•Experience in the engineering, construction or maintenance of large telecommunications networks, preferably in a wireless technology environment will be an asset.
•Experience working in some of the following disciplines, including documentation: backbone, broadband transmission (FOTS, microwave, TDM and IP), GSM, UMTS / HSDPA, LTE, IP, pagers, interconnect, transmission of data, electrical engineering and equipment engineering.
•IP knowledge
oKnowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
oWorking knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP networks.
oMastery of write configurations for Cisco devices.
oCCNA would be an asset
•Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Access) as well as database applications.
