Database Analyst
Contract – Feb 2020 to June 2020
Location – St Johns/ Remote work can be considered
Our Database Analyst must exercise personal initiative and judgement in working with program and project managers to ensure key deliverables are met.
The main focus for this Database Analyst Role is to work with multiple teams within our clients organization to gather information needed to compile this database inventory and map out a migration plan. This includes technical architects, operations support specialists, application support specialists, and business owners.
The consultant will:
• Review existing documentation gathered from various diagnostic tools
• Conduct research on each database in scope to gather additional details not already found from running existing diagnostic tools
• Analyse details gathered to determine the business owner for each database
• Communicate with business owners to gather additional details about the data collected in each database
• Trace database / application linkages
• Communicate with software vendors (as needed) to determine if a database upgrade will be compatible with the existing application software
• Document various migration paths which may be used based on specific criteria (version of SQL server, features used, etc)
• Formulate a migration plan for each database
• Work with the project manager to map out a timeline for the migration plan considering variables such as the migration path, client availability, vendor involvement required, etc.
• Prepare technical documentation as required
• Assist with other database tasks as required by the project manager
• Provide regular feedback to the project manager on the status of this assignment
• Other duties as required
Qualifications:
The Consultants should have the following qualifications and experience:
• Relevant degree (bachelor, masters) or relevant combination of education and experience
• Experience with SQL SERVER databases
• Experience with database upgrades / migrations
• Experience working with a large enterprise
• Experience working with both technical and non-technical clients
• Experience creating technical documentation
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and on own initiative
