Typical Day in Role:
– Work with other architects to design, build overall data strategy including creation of roadmap, evaluation of tools and capabilities required to stand up a Data Hub for Global Wealth engineering business line
– Design, develop and maintain logical and physical data models that correspond to business and technical requirements
– Analyse business processes, critical consuming applications, and source data to understand the dependencies and specific business rules that will impact the ability to manage the master data
– Partner with other data architects to ensure proper translation of architecture decisions to solution architects, conduct review and provide feedback to solution designs and highlight design conflicts across various wealth data domains
– Participate in evaluation of vendor products for solutions to ensure alignment with the enterprise direction
– Work closely with other architects to compare vendor solutions with in-house solutions and prepare a detailed recommendation based on set criteria
– Work closely with other architects and subject matter experts to cost out various solution options
– Ensure adherence to architecture strategy, best practices, principles, standards, policies and procedure at all stages of design
– Ensure that the Data Architecture strategy and roadmap is aligned to the business and technology strategies
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
– 8+ years of proven experience in architecting and implementing master data management, data integration solutions that have resulted in addressing critical data related pain points and delivering substantial benefits to the Business
– A comprehensive understanding of the principles of and best practices behind data engineering, and the supporting technologies such as RDBMS, NoSQL, Cache & In-memory stores
– Excellent problem solving and data modelling skills (logical, physical, sematic and integration models) including; normalisation, and entity relationship analysis. Good knowledge of data modelling tools such ERWin
– Experience of mapping key Enterprise data entities to business capabilities and applications
– Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, applications development and cloud based architectures.
– Excellent verbal and presentation skills and ability to convince desired solution to stake holders at all levels
– Strong knowledge of industry best practices around data architecture in both cloud based and on prem solutions
– Possess in-depth knowledge of and able to consult on various technologies
Nice-To-Have Skills:
– Experience standing up an operational data hub from scratch and involved in design and selection of technologies supporting the data hub
– Understanding of Wealth business line and the various data domains required for building an end to end solution
– Hands on experience in solution architecture apart from data architecture experience
Soft Skills:
– Excellent Communication Skills (written/verbal)
– Experience with presentation tools (Visio, Power Point)
– Experienced with building stakeholder relationships
Degrees or certifications:
University degree in related field or equivalent experience
