Communications Specialist

Location: Toronto, WFH
Duration: 06/21/2021 to 12/31/2021 (potential for extension and perm)

Story behind the need: Resource required to act as right hand for HM and take over some of their current responsibilities

Business group: Group that underpins all of financial and risk management functions for a fortune 100 company.

Typical Day in the role:
– Plans and executes tactical elements of stakeholder engagement strategy including, but not limited to: owning delivery of executive (C-suite) reporting;
– Creation of multi-media materials to support technology change management and stakeholder awareness/training; and leadership of special projects focused on employee engagement
– Research, design and create digital toolkits (e.g. videos, infographics, How To guides, etc.), online learning events, and presentation materials suitable for executives and end-user communities alike
– Collaborative work with teams across the Bank’s Technology, Finance and Risk footprint.
– Build website, (need to know HTML), following design principles

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Executive Reporting including production of monthly C-suite dashboards, quarterly CIO reports, and digital KPI dashboards
2. Stakeholder Engagement and Change Management including the planning, creation and delivery of robust campaigns and digital materials/channels supporting technology change initiatives for stakeholders across the Bank’s global footprint
3. Employee Engagement including partnering with leadership and HR on tactical delivery of campaigns supporting career development, employee retention, employee learning and the growth of a diverse and inclusive organizational culture (townhalls, determining pain points, partnering with HR, book clubs, creating org announcements).

Must have hard skills (3-5):
1. 7- 10+ years of communications experience encompassing copy/ content writing online publishing, communications planning, video production and collaboration with multiple stakeholders; experience with organizational change management
2. 2 to 3 years proven experience delivering change and communications leadership for large (e.g. 5K+ stakeholders) enterprise IT programs and initiatives encompassing global audiences, multiple languages and varying functional groups
3. Working experience of design and video production software (e.g. Camtasia, Adobe CS including Premiere, iMovie) – Ability to build a narrative and share stories in short form videos, creating story boards
4. Understanding of web design and html; deep understanding of social intranet platforms in global enterprise ; expert in PowerPoint
5. Previous experience working with technology teams or on technology initiatives in the context of communications or change management, and should have a solid grounding in developing complex, plain-language messaging/reporting for executive audiences.

Nice to have hard skills:
1. Formal certification (Prosci ADKAR) or demonstrably deep and broad experience in organizational change management
2. Previous experience gained in the context of global finance or global risk management

Soft Skills:
– MUST be confident and have a vision
– Creative thinker, independent, curious, Self starter
– Outstanding writing and communications skills including proven ability to write to target and brand voice across multiple formats (e.g. web, social media, formal presentations, training/reference materials)
– Track record of creative problem-solving and demonstrated willingness to identify and explore new ways of delivering information in both digital and in-person contexts
– Willingness to acquire skill with new media as required

Education/ years of overall experience:
– Undergraduate degree in an area such as journalism, creative writing, English, mass communications
– Post-graduate qualification(s) or IABC membership (nice to have)
