Business Analyst- Capital Markets
Typical Day in Role
• Contributing to the success of regulatory projects (both Reporting Platform Modernization and G20 Remediation Programs)
• Building and updating existing data platform
• Project centered around the remediation of regulatory data gaps
• Contribute FX (Wall Street) data to the platform
• Enhancement items that need to be viewed on a regular bases. Management/project will prioritize items and assign to the contractor
• Analysis and typical roles for a BSA
• Running SQL queries and work with Oracle
• Looking at data attributes (related to FX) and ensuring that the data is accurate and complete. Ensure that what is being fed downstream is accurate (investigation, analysis, altering format to fit system format, etc.)
• May be expected to look into downstream reporting to assist with building out some reports from the data platform (secondary role to their key role of ensuring accuracy of the data being fed into the system)
• Will be working internally with the project team, other BSAs, Developers, as well as with some business users
• May undertake some work on the back end using Unix, if able
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills (in order of priority):
• 5+ years’ experience within capital markets or 3+ years’ experience within FX
• 5+ years’ experience working in a relevant capacity as a BSA (with data)
• Professional experience writing and designing SQL queries (intermediate to advanced skills)
• Understanding of SDLC (testing and technical specifications), as well as a strong understanding of configurations, technical mappings, data attributes
Soft Skills:
• Willingness to learn new things is a key value
• Problem solver
Nice to Have Skills:
• Working knowledge of Unix
• Wallstreet and/or other FX platforms experience is an asset
• Kafka and Hadoop experience are assets
Degrees or certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a field such as commerce, computer science, computer engineering or related field required
