Business Analyst

Duration: ASAP- 1 year

Business group: Ensuring the bank meets regulatory requirements

Project: Enhancing a compliance program that is currently running (conflict management), which includes:
– Enhancing the delivery for control room (manages firm conflict),
– Enhancing the program for personal trading
– The initial focus is to support data gathering for an application/submission to the Regulator in Mexico in order to obtain approval for data to be transferred outside of the country for implementation of the personal conflicts technology

Typical Day in the role:
– The candidate will work directly with the Stream Lead responsible for the deliverable and other stakeholders from Business and IT in Canada and Mexico to execute activities within the plan (i.e. data gathering, developing the submission package, conduct document review with stakeholders etc.).
– Lead and co-ordinate overall data gathering activities with support and oversight from the Stream Lead
– Plan, schedule and facilitate workshops with stakeholders with the objective of obtaining the required input for – the various elements of the submission package
– Consolidation of information received from Business, IT and stakeholders in Mexico
– Management of document review and feedback for the submission package
– Drive and manage assigned activities as captured within the project schedule
– Develop and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders
– Support delivery of all aspects of developing the submission package
– Adhere to stipulated timelines
– Support other project deliverables/activities as required
– Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
– Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
– Champion a high performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
– Submit information to regulator in Mexico (may need to chat with compliance colleagues in Mexico)
– The candidate will also be expected to liaise with an approved external organization to co-ordinate translation of the final document from English to Spanish.

Must have hard skills (3-5):
1. At least 4-5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst professional (more on the business side compared to technology)
2. Financial services industry experience
3. Excellent skills in Word, Visio, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
4. Strong elicitation/documentation in all aspects of requirements and testing

Nice to have hard skills:
1. Fluent in Spanish
2. Compliance experience
3. Specific knowledge in the area of control room functions (i.e. personal conflicts, employee trading programs & firm conflicts)

Soft Skills:
– Excellent analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
– Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills including but not limited to: presentation, prioritization, effective time management, conflict management
– Inquisitive mindset; eager to learn and acquire knowledge
– Demonstrated leadership and analytical abilities
– Must be a creative, self-starting, results-oriented and highly motivated individual
