Test Automation Engineer

Location: WFH, Toronto Contract Length: 9 months Story Behind the Need: Seeking a Test Automation Engineer to contribute to the overall success of Digital in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Typical Day in Role: - Candidate will be apart of the standup at the beginning of everyday with team - Daily responsibilities will general include automation testing, some manual testing and occasional meetings throughout the day - Designing and developing automation testing scripts - Ad hoc support on other projects and initiatives - Interacting with BSA, Delivery Lead, Developers, among others partner technology teams throughout the project lifecycles Must Have Skills/Requirements: 1) 5+ years of experience in a similar Automation test position 2) 3+ years of experience testing Restful API’s with Postman 3) 3+ years of experience with Python scripting 4) 3+ years of experience conducting Load Testing (preferably with Locust and LoadRunner) 5) Working knowledge of SQL – demonstrated in recent projects Nice to Have/Highly Preferred Skills: - Good knowledge and experience in Java/ J2EE - Good knowledge and experience in Spring Boot - Strong knowledge of object-oriented software development best practices - Strong experience in developing Unit Tests and Integration Tests using testing frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, and RestAssured - Experience working in a DevOps environment. Experience with Java Build Tools: Maven or Gradle - Familiarity with OpenAPI Specification (OAS)/ Swagger, YAML, JSON - Knowledge/ experience in Java ORM Frameworks such as Hibernate, Spring DAO - Exposure to RDBMS such as Oracle or DB2. Knowledge and experience with SQL queries - Nice to have experience in building, integrating and deploying web services (REST/ SOAP/JSON/XML) Soft Skills: - Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential - Excellent communication skills including ability to distil technical details into simple terms; ability to influence decision making across stakeholders - Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex initiatives - Natural Problem Solver - The role requires leadership skills, hands-on technical experience, and a can-do approach towards environment automation / management and continuous improvement for efficiency and cost effectiveness - Must be reliable, proactive, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details. - Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure - Strong organizational skills, excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills Education/Certifications: - Bachelors or equivalent in computer science or related field is preferred
